INSIGHT: Facebook Settlement Gives FTC Opening to Set Precedent for Privacy Standards

Facebook Inc. has set aside $5 billion to cover a possible settlement with the FTC involving, in part, potential breaches of their 2012 settlement regarding privacy failures. Lisa Hawke, VP of security and compliance at Everlaw, says FTC now has the chance to formally set a precedent to apply the federal standards on effective compliance programs to privacy.
